- Exploding stars, the eventual collapse of the Sun, and the problems with the human id that prevent us from dealing with them. -- John Tooby, founder of the field of evolutionary psychology
- That the internet is ruining writing. – David Gelernter, Yale computer scientist
- That we will worry too much. –Joseph LeDoux, neuroscientist
I think that the first one is really going to happen but in many many years. Stars die, and we all know that the Sun is a star, so what makes the Sun inmortal? Nothing. The Sun will die and that is going to change the planet completely, it might even kill it.
The second one is also true but not in many cases. The internet makes it easy for people to write, read and become writers. I think that David refers to the lack of correct grammar used in many texts. People find it easy to shorten words or delete certain grammar rules from a sentence because it is simpler.
The last one makes complete sense because 20 years ago people didnt worry about much and had very little stress. Now even kids and teenagers suffer from depression and stress. I think that this will only get worse throught time because there still isnt a solution.
The only thing that makes me hopefull about the future is medicine; for doctors and scientist to discover the cure for cancer, alzheimers, etc.
Very well-written response to the article. Again, I think you finished too soo with paragraph #4. 3
