Liberalist theory.

I agree with this theory but not completely, because our society has evolved throughout the years but not in every aspect. Such as gay marriage and adoption.

Why shouldn't gay/lesbian people be able to get married and form a family? People always say because it's wrong and not normal. Well, isn't that what they used to say about woman voting and about african americans having rights and nos being slaves?

What's so wrong with loving a person and wanting to marry him or her? Nothing.

So yes, society has evolved but not in every aspect and not always for the good of people and or animals. But don't get me wrong, their have been great advances such as preservation of wildlife and conscious about global warming, animal rights, etc.

Homework

1. What can we learn from comic books and superheroes?
2. If you could choose any superpower which would it be and why?

Answers:

  1. What we can learn from comic books is that you are never too old to have fun. That no matter how old, fat, tall, skinny, short, boy, girl, young or however you are, you can always be the hero to any story. Superheroes have tought us that anyone can be a hero and that you should always help people in need. We should always be "good" and no matter how angry or upset you are, you should never hurt other people.
  2. I would have the power to stop time because you could to anything in that time. You could sleep, do homework, rob a bank, cheat on an exam, travel the world, etc. Since I was a little girl I have always wanted to have this superpower.

  • Exploding stars, the eventual collapse of the Sun, and the problems with the human id that prevent us from dealing with them. -- John Tooby, founder of the field of evolutionary psychology
  • That the internet is ruining writing. – David Gelernter, Yale computer scientist
  • That we will worry too much. –Joseph LeDoux, neuroscientist

I think that the first one is really going to happen but in many many years. Stars die, and we all know that the Sun is a star, so what makes the Sun inmortal? Nothing. The Sun will die and that is going to change the planet completely, it might even kill it.

The second one is also true but not in many cases. The internet makes it easy for people to write, read and become writers. I think that David refers to the lack of correct grammar used in many texts. People find it easy to shorten words or delete certain grammar rules from a sentence because it is simpler.

The last one makes complete sense because 20 years ago people didnt worry about much and had very little stress. Now even kids and teenagers suffer from depression and stress. I think that this will only get worse throught time because there still isnt a solution.

The only thing that makes me hopefull about the future is medicine; for doctors and scientist to discover the cure for cancer, alzheimers, etc.

Story

Hello reader. Let me ask you a question... Have you heard if Dharma? And no, it's not the opposite of karma; I'm talking about Dharma the time traveller. Let me tell you the story.

It all starts in the 70's when Dharmas parents, Kila and Darren started researching about acient egypt. On one of their trips, they had Dharma. Since they where always so busy researching and travelling all over the world, Dharma lived in Naples, Florida with her aunt Karla who was a scientist.

Dharla grew up dreaming about one day going back to Egypt and travelling with her parents who she hasn't seen in over 14months.

When Dharla turned 18 she started worked as her aunts assistent saved her money to go to Egypt and meet up with her parents. But she started to like all the science stuff that she was working on with her aunt and almost compltely forgot about her dream to go back to Egypt. After several years of research with her aunt they figured out the equation to the creation of a time machine. They where really excited about it but couldn't seem to continue because they needed some extra help.

Dharla and Karla moved to London to find scientist who would help them create  the time machine. They found 2 guys, Jack and Alfred. After about 12 years of research and hard work they managed to create a time machine but only one person could travel back in time, if they wanted to use it again, they would have to restart the program and that takes about 6 months.

The team decided that Dharla should go back in time and travel with her parents all over the world so she could have a happy childhood. They set the date to 1980 in Egypt. They gave her money and everything for her to be able to find her parents.

Dharla entered the time machine and suddenly disappeared. The team finally had some time to relax after a decade of hard work. But suddenly Alfred realized that they had a huge mistake. Since they sent Dharla back in time, she would be a child again, and since she would live with her parents and not her aunt Karla, she would never grow up with her or work as her assistent or figure out the equation to the time machine or creat the time machine!!

They had created a time machine that no one else would ever use or even know that some one had created a time machine, but Dharla could finally have a family and make her dream come true...

So what do you think? Since no one ever knew the story about the time machine. Do you believe?

Choose one recent technological advance and are we better off because of this technology? Why and why not?

The Internet.
I think we would not be better off because since people use the internet for investigations, homework, research, social networking and even for entertainment. Life has become a lot simpler. For example you can now upload your homework to a blog (like this one) and it becomes faster and you're saving a lot of paper. You can also job hunt online and it becomes so much faster, easier and cheaper. You can also do just "google" something and in less than a minute you have found the answer to what you were looking for, back in the day if you wanted to research something you had to go to the library, find the right books and work for hours just to find the information you were looking for. You can keep in touch with relatives or friends who live in different cities or countries through Facebook, Skype, etc.

If you could love in any community in the world, where would you live and why?

If I could live in any community in the world I would live here actually, I really like my community but I would not live here forever. I would stay in Playa del Carmen and Cancun until I finished college and them move to Madrid. The things that I like about Playa del Carmen aside from the beautiful beaches is that there are so many different people from all over the world here. Some people may say that there are not many opportunities or options to have a good education and a nice job but I think they are wrong. If you want a good education, no matter where you live or study you will receive a good education based on your good student attitude. I think that Madrid is the best city I have been to next to Vancouver. The thing is that I could never live in Vancouver because I am not used living in cold weather. I know that Madrid also has cold weather but in the summer it is just like Playa del Carmen (In spring). Even though I would not like to live in Vancouver I love to visit there and go skiing with my family.

These are a few pictures of my community.
The beach is the number 1 attraction here.
My favourite restaurants are Sushi Ken, Yumorama and this mexican food place that is super cheap and delicious.
You can also go to cenotes if you are sick and tired of the sand and salty water. I always go to denote cristalino.

My community would be playacar, there are a couple of things to do like play golf, ride a bike, walk your dog, have lunch, etc.

Homework

I recommend Sushi Ken. It is THE BEST sushi place in Playa (in my opinion). It is affordable and has great Japanese food.
If you're in the mood for a delicious dessert and don't know where to go. I recommend you go to Yumorama. It is my favourite place to go for some frozen yogurt, there are so many different flavours and topics to chose from.

English Idiom:
We are gonna paint the city red.
Meaning: We are gonna have a good time today.

Some people believe this as a bad thing because they think that "red" means blood or a bad time but it is actually the opposite.

Mary: I am so bored, I haven't done anything fun lately
Bob: Don't worry, lets go out tonight and have a good time

Mary: Yeah! Lets paint the city red.

Language Arts Homework.

Choose a success/failure quote.

"I don't measure a man's success by how high he climbs but how high he bounces when he hits bottom."

Why did you choose it?

I chose this quote because it means that it is more important to see how a person raises to the top from once he or she is in the bottom the watching how that person slowly climbs their way to the top.

Does it motivate you?

Yes it does motivate me because it teaches you that if you are ever hit rock bottom you should do whatever is possible for you to rise to the top again.
